Imoni is primarily a seasonal event that takes place in the Tohoku region, people gather outodoors such as dry riverbed, and eat to make a pot dishes made with taro.

A large pot with a diameter of 6m is a symbol of the festival, was made in order to disseminate “Yamagata’s food culture, Imoni Festival in autumn” to the country, being held in Yamagata every autumn since 1989.
